One of the most important causes of the French Revolution was the Enlightenment ideas and the American Revolution. Ideas spread widely through the printing press. As historian Albert Mathiez mentions it in Document 4, leadership began to fall to the middle class who was begging to gain knowledge of the ideas of the Enlightenment. The working classes were incapable of staring or controlling the Revolution because they were just beginning to learn to read and write, therefore Mathiez thinks the middle class caused the Revolution. Parts of the Enlightenment ideas were those of Rousseau, Voltaire, and Locke. Rousseau wanted direct democracy. Locke believed that government s power comes from the consent of the people. Rousseau. Voltaire wanted freedom of speech and religious toleration. The ideas of these Enlightenment thinkers based the Constitution of the United States. Andrew Jackson, Hero or Villain free essay sample
Two gig tariffs were passed during 1828 and 1833 which increased taxes on imported foreign goods. The South was outraged by the high taxation, so they created the Nullification Act that allows states to nullify the laws that they do not like. Soon after the second tariff was issued, they formed a convention to build up an army with the idea of secession. Jackson was so enraged that he was willing to use all the power he had to stop it. Fortunately he was able to make a deal with the Vice President John Calhoun, who was in favor of theSouth, to lower the tax prices. The South backed off from secession and things settled down between the North and South. Secondly, the bad if not malicious duties Jackson did during his presidency was the forced removal of Native Americans from Georgia to the west. The state of Georgia was against the Supreme Court who was not in favor of the removal of the Natives. Many died before they even got there. It was known as the Trail of Tears. The ending of the National Bank system was the other bad deed of Jackson. He believed that it was a monopoly towards the upper class people and as a result refused to re-charter it. Jackson used one of his vetoes, and the Banks congressional supporters did not have enough votes to override him. The Bank ceased to exist when its charter expired in 1836, but even before that Jackson had weakened it considerably by withdrawing millions of dollars of federal funds. This later resulted in contributing to the panic in 1837.Jackson was not a hero or a villain during his presidency. He did remove the Indians from their homeland against their will and against the Supreme Court and he did get rid of the national bank causing panic. But he enforced the laws of the united States and stopped the south from secession. Also when he became president he made it so not only men that owned land could vote, he made it so all men could vote in the presidential election. Because of these reasons I do not think Andrew Jackson was a hero or a villain.

Why baby boomers should explore the world of returnships
Why baby boomers should explore the world of returnships Those among us who have been in the workforce for a while have no doubt witnessed a tidal wave of change in the work world- everything from technological innovation to globalization and how employers and employees approach the very notion of work has undergone seismic shifts in recent years, and it can be a real challenge to keep up. If youââ¬â¢re someone who has taken a career break- for whatever reason- and are looking to jump back in to employment, the challenge to get up to speed can be even more daunting. On top of this perception gap, your skill set and industry knowledge may need a refresh or revamp. What is a returnship and who is it for?Although this may seem like an insurmountable obstacle, jumping back into an industry in order to build a new career is completely doable. Companies are recognizing that a significant and potentially valuable segment of the workforce consists of those who are looking to return to work after an extended absence, and are making a real effort to help these individuals make the transition back.As a result, weââ¬â¢re seeing a rise in the number of companies that are offering ââ¬Å"returnships,â⬠which are essentially internships for experienced job hunters who are looking to return to work but need a refresher period- to get up to speed regarding changes in their industry and rebuild their skills. In many instances, individuals who re-enter the workforce through a returnship are able to get back on their professional feet, prove themselves, and get satisfying full-time positions. How to find a returnship opportunityDoes this sound like just the sort of opportunity youââ¬â¢re looking for? If so, there are a few options for snagging a returnship. Some companies have established structured returnship programs that you can apply to, and the number of companies who are developing similar initiatives is on the rise. For example, IBM has a formal 12-week reentry program for experienced technologists as part of its initi ative to diversify its workforce and source the best available talent at various levels. You can search directly to determine companies in your industry who have similar programs; often, companies will provide information for applying for returnship and open employment positions directly on their websites. Try creating a targeted list of companies in your field that youââ¬â¢d like to work for, and do some research to determine if they offer returnship or reentry programs that you might be qualified for. If not, you can always contact their HR departments and suggest that they consider starting such a program- if you can effectively convince them of the potential benefits for doing so you just may be among their first set of program participants.Returning to work after an extended absence can be a real challenge in todayââ¬â¢s rapidly changing, ultra-competitive work environment- but it certainly isnââ¬â¢t an impossible mission. If youââ¬â¢ve been out of the workforce for a while and are eager to get back in, consider a returnship program in your area. It just might be the perfect bridge between your current situation and full-time employment.

However, there are many factors which prevent the participation of susceptible young people in screening programs. Agurto et al, 2004 in their study have endeavored to identify the barriers to cervical screening that exist among Latin American women, a region where cervical cancer is rampant.
